Welcome

A group of seven or so friends in central New York has constituted itself as the Geneva Peace Symposium in order to take up the manifold problem of violence and together seek solutions. The group has divided the realm of violence into seven categories:

For each site of violence, one or two members of the group will write a short paper for discussion, focusing in each case on proposing remedies for the violence in question. We hope, first, that other groups of friends will systematically consider the reduction of violence in their own communities and worldwide; we offer our papers as points of departure for their discussions. Second, we hope that the proposals for reducing violence that issue from such group discussions will find their way to the appropriate occupants of positions of power, so that they in turn might put into effect the best of the proposals.
